The first TAG magneto optic ceramic product in the market
The TAG (Tb3Al5O12 terbium aluminum garnet) series magneto optical ceramics developed and produced by CeramX Technology are a new generation of magneto optical Faraday materials. Its key performance indicators, encompassing excellent material uniformity, low heat absorption, and a high Verdet constant etcs., have been thoroughly validated by users, leading to consistently favorable reviews. It solved the industry problem of rapid degradation of isolation and beam quality of existing TGG magneto optical materials under high laser power.
In addition, Due to the use of sintering technology, TAG magneto optical ceramics have excellent production efficiency, large size, and cost advantages. Further more, it also allows for high range doping of rare earth ions.
The combination of the above features has opened the door for various high performance products. In sharp contrast, traditional crystal materials are simply unable to achieve such results.

The structural principle of magneto optical isolator
Magneto-optic ceramic is the core component of an Faraday optical isolator.

Optical isolator utilizes the Faraday effect. When laser passes through a magneto optical material in a magnetic field in both forward and reverse directions, its polarization direction will rotate in the same direction. When the polarization direction of the reflected light is orthogonal to the polarizer, the reflected light is blocked, thereby protecting the laser source.
Key advantages of TAG magneto optical ceramic
High In-line transmittance
The transmittance of TAG ceramics reaches or exceeds 83.4%, endowing it with superior optical quality and lower insertion loss.
Highly homogeneous
TAG magneto optical ceramics have isotropic properties. The ceramic process ensures very high uniformity, thus ensuring that high power lasers do not experience wavefront distortion.
High Verdet constant
The magneto optical constant of TAG exceeds 46 rad/ T.m@1064nm. This provides a fundamental solution for small sized isolator equipment from a material perspective.
Extremely low thermal effect
The TAG ‘s thermal absorption is less than 500ppm. It solves the thermal lens effect and thermally induced birefringence effect under high laser power.
High damage threshold
TAG has the characteristic of high laser damage threshold, which can reach or exceed 15J/cm2 at 20ns. Thus, it can withstand higher laser power.
Customize any size and shape
The ceramic process characteristics used by TAG make the product size almost unrestricted and can be of any shape. This feature can produce actual product sizes up to 100x100mm or larger.
